Welcome to Lakeshore Catholic’s Student Services Department where our motto is: "Think Clearly, Feel Deeply and Act Wisely ". The Student Services department at LCHS is a key component of the secondary school program. Through the Student Services department, students will acquire the knowledge and skills that they need in order to learn effectively, to live and work co-operatively and productively with a wide range of people, to set and pursue education and career goals, and to carry out their social responsibilities. The Student Services department delivers this program through various means; including classroom visits, individual counselling, transition activities, orientation and exit programs, post-secondary exploration activities, career exploration and academic support through tutoring. Support SystemsLakeshore Catholic High School students have access to many in school as well as outside community agencies, which provide support to address social/emotional issues. Child and Youth Worker – Mrs. K. Moccio The Child Youth Worker at LCHS provides our students with social/emotional support during difficult times. Students often will be referred to an outside agency for support. Within the school setting, she can facilitate such programs as: Beyond the Hurt, Girls Talk, and High on Life (preventative program for drug and alcohol issues), Wellness Day and Safe Schools Team. Public Health Nurse – Mrs. L. TonnosThe school nurse will be in the school once a week on Wednesdays. Any student wishing to speak to her about specific health issues or other medical concerns can make an appointment in Guidance. All information discussed is strictly confidential.
Chaplain – Mrs. K. Mistry Lakeshore Catholic is fortunate to have a chaplain to serve as a spiritual animator within our Catholic community. The Chaplain co-ordinates and facilitates activities and celebrations which foster the growth of every student as an individual in the community. Community Addictions Services of Niagara – Mr. P. NiesinkThe addictions counsellor is available twice a month, at LCHS, for students who may be struggling with an addiction. He can be contacted through our Guidance Department. This is a confidential service made available to us through Community Addiction Services of Niagara. Kids Help Phone LineProvides toll-free, 24 hour, bilingual and anonymous phone counselling to young people of Canada 1-800-668-6868 Contact NiagaraContact Niagara Resource Coordinators identify appropriate local resources for children who experience emotional and behavioural difficulties. 1-800-933-3617 New Student RegistrationStudents who are interested in attending LCHS are asked to contact us at 905-835- 2451, ext. 2307 for an appointment. Gr. 9 Option Sheet - Niagara Catholic Students and Public Students Requesting A TranscriptTranscripts must be requested by calling the Student Services Department. There is a $3 fee per copy for former students. If a current student needs a copy there is a $1 fee. |
